Lyrics

His Love

When the storms of life grow strong
And you think you can’t hang on
Remember the love
Our Savior has for you.
For He knows us all by name
And he loves us each the same
Through Him we are healed
Our hearts can be made pure.

If we only knew or could even comprehend
His great love for us, a love that never ends
He brought sight to the blind,
The lame man walked with him

By our faith in His love
We, too, can be whole again.

Even in the darkest night
Jesus Christ is our true light
Through Him we find hope
And greater peace within
He suffered for our sins
Death was conquered life was giv’n
If we will repent and strive to follow Him

If we only knew or could even comprehend
His great love for us, a love that never ends
He once said, “Go thy way,
Thy faith hath made thee whole”

And if we trust in Him
His love sanctifies our souls

If you find your light grows dim
Lift your heart and eyes to Him
Our Savior is there to gently guide you home
For He hears each prayerful cry
And He knows each reason why
He felt every pain and sorrow for each sin.

If we only knew or could even comprehend
His great love for us, a love that never ends
In the peace that He brings,
We find we can endure

By our faith in His love
The way back to Him is sure.

Story Behind the Song

About 24 years ago, when I was just 23 years old, I wrote this song in a little apartment with my two toddlers perched on my lap (that’s how composing often went for quite a few dozen songs I published…pat-a-cake hands slapping the keys as I hummed and composed)). His Love was the first Christ-centered song I had ever written in sheet music form. I even had it recorded as a demo and shared it with loved ones for Christmas that year and shared it with a loved one who had been recently diagnosed with cancer. I learned that people craved reassuring messages about Christ and that they needed to be reminded of His love often…and that my music could be an instrument in doing that. It was the beautiful beginning of many more songs written about Jesus Christ. This song was re-recorded professionally to be included on my first album, Thy Healing Hands – Songs of Comfort and Peace.

I will never forget the tender feelings I had writing these simple words – and the testimony that filled my soul, knowing how much the Savior loves each and every one of us so very much. It was an incredible experience for me.
