Story Behind the Song

This song was inspired by the project my husband and I are working on in eastern Uganda. In January 2024, we had the opportunity to visit the village with another couple, our son and three other young men. We went to meet the people we were serving, to assess the needs there and to begin the construction of a new school and dormitory for 45 orphans and other surrounding community children. For now, my music is going toward this project. Any sales from my website will be used for the construction costs. You can read more about the project HERE.

The weeks leading up to this experience were overwhelming to me. I had many mixed feelings about going. I was excited and terrified all the same time. I loved the children I had yet to meet, and I knew they had high hopes for our visit. I kept playing this song over and over on the piano leading up to leaving. It helped to still my heart. I knew it would be an experience I would never forget and it took a little faith to go. It also took faith to leave them.

The trip was sandwiched between the birth of my second granddaughter, born the day before we left and the death of my grandmother, who passed away while we were there. There was much I needed and I am grateful for this melody that reminded me of the Savior’s words to “fear not”.

This is the message I also send to my little friends in Uganda; children I wish I could see often and meet every need they have. I know God is watching over them though, and we will do what we can to serve them. It’s been a beautiful experience.

My favourite part of Uganda is the people. Their hugs and smiles are amazing. We also loved taking the children to church the two Sundays that we were there.

There is much more to tell about the trip and I will be posting more here at a future time, but for now, the message of this melody is that God loves ALL His children, and as we serve Him by serving His children, He calms our fears and replaces them with joy!
